So we recently got diagnosed with autism. We didn’t think there would be personal consequences, because we already concluded years and years ago we are autistic; we only pursued the diagnosis because we’re applying for disability. But having it “officially” confirmed did in fact change things for us, boy did it ever, and your zine resonates with us so much on the… what changed, and why.
We had to take a while to really let each page sink in because, wow, yeah, yeowch – I don’t even have words, just… feeling seen, sending and receiving vibes of understanding and support across an online ocean. Thank you for making and sharing your zine with us!!!
Thank you so much for sharing your own story! I suspected a couple of my own diagnoses for years before officially being diagnosed, but jeez was I in denial. The process of getting diagnosed can be so validating, and it also hits you like a truck sometimes. I'm so glad you feel so seen, sending back support from my corner of the internet <3
